PETS 2017

March 4 - 5, 2017 -- The annual President-Elect Training Seminar 2017 (PETS) is a two-day event that gives training to Presidents-Elect and sees them present their proposed plan for the year, budgeting, and club organization. PETS is always an eye-opening experience to every year's Presidents-Elect. This year, our very own President JP was present at the Summit Ridge Hotel and Conference Center in Tagaytay City to participate and represent RCMD!

The event started with PDG Billy Villareal giving an overview of what PETS is, followed by a keynote address of iDG Edwin Afzelius on the thrusts of the District and Rotary International for the current Rotary Year (2017 - 2018), along with the Rotary year theme -- Rotary Making Difference.

All District Committees set standards for the clubs within their purview and to enlighten the Presidents-Elect, a one-hour panel discussion with several District Chairs was held -- PDG Sue Sta. Maria (TRF); EAG Jaz Rodriguez (District Operations); CCs Ros cob (Club Administration), Chach amach (Service), Rennie ndrew (Membership), and AG / RCMD PP Phili azaren (Public Image); nd Awards Chair Beth Rabu.

The next hour and a half was spent on a hands-on training on Rotary Central which was given to our club leaders by PP Ricky Santos. Rotary Central is a Rotary's online resource that gives members a customized experience and easier access to tools and information that are relevant.

Other activities included a one-hour Pecha Cucha conducted by iRAED Danny Abenoja and various break out sessions. It was a long two days but a very gratifying one because our club leaders leave the halls of the venue with more knowledge, more friends from within the district, and more inspiration to lead and drive their respective clubs. Here's to our beloved President JP's success in steering RCMD to new frontiers!
