RCMD Members Join the Fun at Pedyalympics 2017
/
March 5, 2017 -- We were as ecstatic as all the kids at Pedyalympics! We held a sporting event for children that lets them take part in sports and other activities to foster their confidence and teamwork while having fun!
As early as 8 AM, the San Lorenzo Village Park was already bursting with energy! Ready to play were all our participants consisting of more than 150 orphans, street children, and children with special needs from various institutions like Hospicio de San Jose, Kanlungan sa Erma, Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, Bahay Kanlungan, Boystown, Sarnelli House, and Handicapped Center Lourdes. Student volunteers and the children's respective guardians were in attendance to join in on the fun too.
To formally begin the games, we grouped the children into into 5 team and each group had to craft a creative and witty team cheer -- their cheers surely revved up everyone's engines even more!
To add even more to the joy, we prepared a surprise for the kids -- they were astonished when in walked James Younghusband and Christine Jacob-Sandejas! Our guests of honor gave some words of inspiration to the children, and it was deeply heartwarming to see the happiness in all the kids' eyes, and encouragement in their faces!
Pedyalympics is a project of RCMD in cooperation with the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Pedya Kamp Association, Inc., and San Lorenzo Village Association.
